Format: 16 Team Bocce Ball Tournament
First Come - First Signed Up
Single-elimination tournament format.
Objective of the Game
The goal is to roll bocce balls as close as possible to the target ball, known as the Pallino.
Each team has 4 bocce balls.
Teams consist of 2 players (18 years or older) with no substitutions.
One player from each team will stand at each end of the court for all frames.
Single-elimination tournament format.
Each team’s captain draws a playing card to determine who goes first.
The higher card winner tosses the Pallino first.
The same team will then throw the first bocce ball (Red Ball).
Pallino Toss:
The Pallino must pass the centerline and be at least 12 inches from the backboard (or the other team tosses the “PALLINO”)
If unsuccessful after two tries, the Pallino is placed at the center of the back foul line.
Throwing the Bocce Balls:
The team that threw the Pallino throws the first bocce ball (underhanded only).
Bocce balls must pass the centerline and must not hit the backboard unless they first hit the Pallino or another bocce ball.
If a ball violates these rules, it is removed from play until the next frame.
Turn Rotation:
The opposing team throws until they get a ball closer to the Pallino.
Teams alternate turns until all bocce balls are played.
The winner of the frame starts the next frame.
Match Length:
Standard matches: 8 frames OR 12 points, whichever comes first.
Finals Bracket: 12 frames OR 12 points.
Tiebreaker Rule:
If tied at the end of the match, all players move to one end.
The winners of the last frame throw the Pallino first, followed by alternating bocce ball throws.
Closest ball to the Pallino wins the frame.
Scoring:
The team with the closest bocce ball to the Pallino gets 1 point per ball closer than the opponent.
A bocce ball touching the Pallino is worth 2 points.
Fighting, arguing, or disruptive behavior will result in disqualification.
This is a family-friendly event, and all players are expected to maintain sportsmanship.
